How to Use

  1. 1Enter your selling price and the shipping you charge the buyer.
  2. 2Enter your material or item cost, your shipping cost and packaging.
  3. 3Check the transaction, listing and payment processing fees against Etsy's current fee page.
  4. 4Add offsite ads if the sale came through them, then read your net profit, margin and break-even price.

How the profit is calculated

Revenue is the item price plus the shipping you charge. The calculator subtracts the transaction fee on that total, the listing fee, payment processing, any offsite ads and your own costs for materials, shipping and packaging. The result is the profit you keep per sale, with a margin and a return on cost.

Price with all fees in mind

Several small fees add up to a meaningful share of a low-priced item, because the fixed amounts weigh more on small orders. Use the target margin box to find a price that still leaves the profit you want.

Keep fees up to date

Etsy adjusts its fees and programs over time and they can differ by country. Check Etsy's fee page and update the fields. This is an estimate, not tax or accounting advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

What fees does Etsy charge?

The usual fees are a listing fee for each listing, a transaction fee of about 6.5 percent of the item price plus shipping, and payment processing, around 3 percent plus a small fixed amount in the US. Offsite ads add an extra fee on sales that come through them.

Do Etsy fees apply to shipping?

Yes. The transaction fee and payment processing apply to the total the buyer pays, including shipping. This calculator applies them to price plus shipping.

What are offsite ads fees?

If a sale comes through an Etsy offsite ad, an extra percentage of the order is charged, and the rate depends on your sales volume. Enter the rate in the offsite ads field if you want to include it, or leave it at zero.

How should I price handmade items?

Include materials, your time and packaging along with fees. The break-even price shows the minimum, and the target margin box shows what to charge for the profit you want.

Are taxes and currency effects included?

No. Sales tax, income tax, currency conversion and regional fees such as VAT on seller fees are not included. Treat the result as an estimate.
