Frequently Asked Questions

What is compound interest?

Compound interest is interest earned on your interest. Each period's interest is added to the balance, so the next period's interest is calculated on a larger amount. Over long periods, this makes growth speed up.

Does compounding frequency matter much?

More frequent compounding gives slightly more, but the difference between monthly and daily is small. The interest rate, how much you add, and how long you stay invested matter far more.

Are taxes and inflation included?

No. The result is a nominal, pre-tax figure. Real returns depend on taxes, fees and inflation, and investment returns aren't guaranteed. This tool is for illustration, not financial advice.
