Frequently Asked Questions

How does the tool detect table columns?

It looks at where each piece of text starts on the page. Text that starts at the same horizontal position on different lines is placed in the same column, which is how most PDF tables are laid out.

Are numbers converted so I can use formulas?

Yes. Plain numbers like 1234, -5.5, or 1,234.50 are stored as numeric cells, so SUM and other formulas work right away. Values with leading zeros, such as account numbers, stay as text.

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

No. A scanned page has no text layer to extract. Use the PDF OCR tool to recognize the text first.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The extraction runs in your browser, which matters for sensitive documents like bank statements.
